Elon Musk is one of the big winners in the elections and will have a role in Trump’s government

It was at the end of September that Trump had anticipated that Musk would actively participate in what will be his new government.

Donald Trump returns to the White House and with him, a new great ally: Elon Musk. The magnate played a special role in the triumph of the Republican candidate in these US presidential elections, and celebrated with him at a dinner this past Tuesday night.

It was at the end of September that Trump had anticipated that Musk would actively participate in what will be his new government, and stated that he would help save trillions of dollars of public money by working for him: "He will be the one to cut costs for us. I think he could save us trillions," Trump said at a rally in Walker, in the key state of Michigan.

What will Elon Musk be in charge of in Donald Trump's new presidential term?

During his campaign, the 78-year-old politician stated that he will create a government efficiency commission, thus adopting a political idea presented to him by Musk, who has become one of his allies in recent years.

The goal of that commission will be to identify ways to eliminate unnecessary spending, as indicated by Trump himself, and Musk said he would be happy to help in a body of that kind, which he has dubbed the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE, in the proposed English acronym by the magnate).

“I don't think I can have him full-time because he's a little busy launching rockets and all the stuff he does,” added Trump in Michigan, stating that the owner of X and the founder of SpaceX will help him “for free.”

"He is going to do it for nothing because he wants to see this country be great. Having his support is very important. We have great support, but let me say one thing, having him involved is going to be incredible," he concluded.

Musk's support not only extended to publicly endorsing him, despite what it means for a figure of his stature to be the 'celebrity' most closely associated with the Republican party, or even with simple government proposals, as the 53-year-old South African businessman also fully embraced supporting the MAGA movement (short for 'Make America Great Again').

Musk spent at least 119 million dollars on a super PAC (political action committee) that supported the Republican in organizing events on his behalf in the key swing state of Pennsylvania.

“The Trump team is fun. They have a great sense of humor, they make jokes, Trump has a lot of self-deprecating humor,” Musk said a few days ago.
