Jeremy Strong confessed that he does not want to play Kendall Roy from ‘Succession’ again

Strong admitted that he does not feel nostalgic about the role that earned him an Emmy in 2020.

Jeremy Strong, the actor acclaimed for his portrayal of Kendall Roy in the HBO series Succession, has made a surprising revelation about his experience on the show. In a recent interview with The Sunday Times, Strong confessed that he does not feel nostalgic about the role that earned him an Emmy in 2020.

In fact, the actor stated that his experience playing Kendall was so intense that, in a way, it "destroyed" him.

Throughout the four seasons of Succession, Strong portrayed a character who constantly struggled for acceptance and power within a dysfunctional family, which involved a significant emotional challenge. "The material was a feast, so I miss it," he said. However, carrying the weight of Kendall was a difficult burden for seven years, leading Strong to seek new creative opportunities. "There is so much more I want to do," he added, making it clear that he is ready to close this chapter of his life.

The Emotional Challenge of Interpreting Kendall Roy

Despite her successful relationship with the character, Strong does not have plans to return to Kendall in future projects or spinoffs. "It's not something I want to do anymore," she explained, acknowledging that, although Kendall Roy was crucial in her career, she does not miss the challenge it posed. The series, created by Jesse Armstrong, focused on the Roy family dynamics and their struggle for control of a powerful media company, generating great interest and critical acclaim.

Instead of looking back, Strong is focusing on his next project, The Apprentice, where he plays Roy Cohn, an influential lawyer who played a crucial role in the early stages of Donald Trump’s career. With this new challenge, Strong seeks to expand his repertoire and explore different facets of his acting talent, thus marking a new stage in his career.
