Paris Hilton on her ADHD diagnosis: "My brain doesn't follow a straight line"

The businesswoman shared how she has faced her ADHD throughout her life.

Paris Hilton has shared many aspects of her life with the public, but recently she opened up about a very personal issue: her diagnosis of ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder).

It should be noted that the businesswoman left scandals behind years ago, and has focused on her family while developing various businesses.

What did Paris Hilton say about her ADHD?

In an essay published in Teen Vogue, the entrepreneur reflected on how this disorder has influenced her childhood, career, and activism.

In her account, Hilton describes how the symptoms of ADHD manifested from her childhood.

"When I was a little girl, they always told me that I was too energetic, too distracted, too talkative; too much of everything," she confessed.

These characteristics led her to be sent to Provo Canyon School, a center for teenagers, where her "constant need" for stimulation met an environment that couldn't handle her hyperactivity. In this place, she suffered abuse. "I wish someone had asked me what was really going on," she reflected on those difficult moments and her feeling of being misunderstood.

"At first, the diagnosis seemed like a label to me, something that pigeonholed me, that defined me by what I couldn't do, by what made me different," he added.

However, over time, Hilton has changed his perspective and now sees ADHD as a source of creativity, resilience, and originality.

ADHD has left a significant mark on his life and career. "It's my secret weapon in a world that often tells us we should play it safe," he wrote.

Hilton attributes her ability to anticipate trends, her creativity to build an empire, and her empathy to connect with others to the particularities of ADHD.

"My brain doesn't follow a straight line, but rather zigzags and explores uncharted territories, allowing me to break boundaries and stay at the forefront," he emphasized.
