These are the most successful Super Bowl halftime shows in the last 20 years

The halftime show has become one of the most important musical events in the world, even though it is part of the NFL league final.

For Americans, the Super Bowl represents one of the most important sports events in their country; for the rest of the world, the musical performances are the most anticipated.

The halftime show has been happening since its beginnings in 1967; however, in 1993, Michael Jackson turned it into the musical event that it is today. Below, I leave you with the most successful performances that have been done in the last 20 years.

Coldplay, Beyoncé, and Bruno Mars (2016)

Coldplay is one of the most important bands in the world and for their performance at the Super Bowl, they decided to share the stage with Beyoncé and Bruno Mars, who many believe ended up stealing the show. Their performance is still remembered today and was one of the most-watched.

Katy Perry and Missy Elliott (2015)

The Super Bowl producers were worried that the audience wouldn't sing along to the pop diva's songs, but everyone in the stadium ended up singing all of her songs. To top it off, the return of rapper Missy Elliot after years of absence raised expectations.

Rihanna (2023)

Many criticized Rihanna for getting pregnant during the halftime show because she couldn't dance much; however, it was the most viewed and reproduced performance internationally. Additionally, on Spotify, the songs performed by the singer and entrepreneur returned to the top of the most played list.

Madonna (2012)

The queen of Pop enchanted everyone with her performance, where she reviewed her entire discography and had a great staging that set the bar very high for younger generations.

Shakira and Jennifer Lopez (2020)

Despite the scandal that arose after the show, when Jennifer Lopez stated that they both deserved to have an individual show and not a shared one, both of them elevated Latin culture in this American show. It became the first in several years to receive a lot of views.

Beyoncé (2013)

The pop diva managed to live up to the expectations after none other than Madonna performed the previous year. Additionally, Beyoncé delighted the audience by inviting her old group mates to perform Destiny's Child songs.

U2 (2002)

After the terrorist attacks of September 11, U2 managed to make the entire United States forget for a moment about this tragic event and sing along to their songs. Becoming, for many, one of the best Super Bowl performances.
