Week 4: Daniels becomes the sensation of the new NFL season and gives hope to Washington

Additionally: Justin Jefferson emerges as a candidate for MVP and Jared Goff had a perfect game on Monday Night Football.

The victory last week in Cincinnati on Monday Night Football was not enough. On Sunday, the Washington Commanders once again confirmed that this season could be the one they have dreamed of for so many years after defeating the Cardinals 42-12 in Phoenix.

And perhaps most importantly for the capital's team is that they did it with another great performance by rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, who had a record of 26 completions in his young career and also threw a touchdown.

The second selection in the past Draft, from LSU, has become the sensation of the NFL in this first month of competition and the offensive coordinator of the Commanders, Kliff Kingsbury (who was fired as head coach of the Cardinals), has a lot to do with it. Kingsbury has been developing Daniels' talent with short passes and screens, without pushing him too hard yet.

Thanks to that, Daniels shows an 82.1% passing efficiency and the Commanders surprisingly lead the NFC East Division with a 3-1 record.

Is Justin Jefferson the first MVP candidate?

A touchdown in every game, at least six catches per game, and 133 yards against the 49ers. With those numbers, Minnesota Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson emerges as the top candidate to become the NFL MVP. In 2022, he was already the Offensive Player of the Year and a finalist for the MVP.

Jefferson is one of the reasons why the Vikings are undefeated and one of the scorers in the great victory of 31-29 over the Packers in Green Bay (28-7 was the first half for Minnesota).

Despite all the doubts at the beginning of the season, the Vikings are adding victories against strong teams like the 49ers, Texans, and now the Packers. Candidates to win the NFC?

What if the Colts give the starting position to Joe Flacco?

The future quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts is Anthony Richardson, but he still needs to evolve and refine many aspects of his game. Many of Richardson's shortcomings are related to his lack of competitive experience: he was only a starter in 13 games at the University of Florida and has played a total of eight with the Colts (his rookie season only lasted until Week 5 before a serious injury).

On Sunday against the Steelers, Richardson left the game due to a hip injury in the first half and Joe Flacco took control of the Colts' offense to lead them to a surprising 27-24 victory with two touchdown passes.

In the 2023 season, Flacco was hired by the Browns as an emergency in November and led the team to the playoffs.

Wouldn't it be better for the Colts to trust the 39-year-old veteran and let the young Richardson heal and develop from the bench?

Jared Goff had a historic game on Monday Night Football

The Lions quarterback had a perfect game last night and set a record in the NFL by completing all 18 of his passes to help Detroit secure a 49-29 victory over the Seattle Seahawks.

Additionally, Goff also had a touchdown reception for the first time in his career, catching a pass from Amon-Ra St. Brown. In turn, one of the veteran quarterback's touchdown passes was to St. Brown, making them the eighth duo in league history to throw and catch a touchdown each.

The Lions are 3-1 and will have a tough battle with the Vikings for the NFC North Division title, without ruling out the Packers.
