Eric Adams, current mayor of New York City, pleaded not guilty to federal charges of corruption and bribery, which could force him to resign. Dressed in a dark suit, white shirt, and red tie, Adams addressed the judge and made his statement.

"I am not guilty, Your Honor," Adams told federal magistrate judge Katharine Parker during a brief appearance in court in Manhattan. The mayor was ordered not to speak with any of the witnesses named in the indictment.

“'He will have no contact with any individual witness or with other persons listed in the government's list in relation to the facts or circumstances outlined in the indictment,' Parker said.”
Adams's next court appearance
The top authority in New York was allowed to be released without bail and will have to appear in court again next Wednesday.
"“We will file a motion to dismiss on Wednesday,” Adams' lawyer, Alex Spiro, told the judge."
"When he finished, Adams avoided making eye contact with anyone as he left the courtroom, and once outside, he gave a thumbs-up gesture to a small crowd waiting," NBC News reports on its website."
On the other hand, the lawyer of the New York mayor described Adams' case as "unstable" because a staff member "has lied." "This case is not even a real case," Spiro said. "It is a case of corruption in airline flight upgrades."
The day after being accused, Adams surrendered to federal authorities. He is accused of “accepting free airline tickets and stays in luxury hotels worth $100,000 from wealthy Turkish citizens and at least one government official in a corruption scheme that lasted nearly a decade,” as reported by NBC News.
