Prince George is already receiving his first flying lessons at the age of 11

The second in line to the British throne began flight training this week at White Waltham airfield.

The Prince George of the United Kingdom has embarked on an exciting journey. At 11 years old, the eldest of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s children took his first flying lesson, as reported by British media.

The second in line to the British throne began flight training this week at White Waltham Aerodrome, near Windsor Castle, where, according to a witness who informed The Sun newspaper, both Prince William and Kate Middleton watched as their son took off in a Piper PA-28 single-engine aircraft with dual controls and landed with his instructor about an hour later.

How was the young Prince George's first flying lesson?

It seems that the young prince loved the experience, which did not surprise his parents much since the grandson of King Charles III has always been fascinated by helicopters. "I can't go home without a helicopter. George would never forgive me," Prince William joked during a visit made five years ago by an air ambulance organization.

With these first flying lessons at White Waltham airfield, the young heir follows in the footsteps of his great-grandfather, Prince Philip, although he was considerably older (31 years old) when he began his training at the same place in 1952.

He also has the example of his own father, Prince William, who during the early years of his marriage to Kate was an air ambulance pilot in Anglesey (Wales) and took part in some RAF rescue operations.

The Prince of Wales, who this week has expressed how much he misses that job, has not lost his passion for flying and he is usually the one in charge of flying his family by helicopter on some of their private transfers.
