The Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris, spoke out on Sunday through her social media about the shooting incident near former President Donald Trump in Palm Beach, Florida.

Harris stated that she is glad that her opponent is doing well and that "violence has no place in the United States."

"I have been informed that shots have been fired near former President Trump and his property in Florida, and I am glad that he is safe. Violence has no place in the United States," commented X (formerly known as Twitter).

Earlier, agents from the United States Secret Service opened fire upon seeing a person with a firearm near the Republican presidential candidate's golf course.

The person fled in a vehicle and was later arrested in a nearby county by the local police.

The Martin Police Department said they had stopped a car on Interstate 95 and had arrested a suspect who appears to be linked to the incident.

An AK-type weapon was recovered at the scene.

In a message on X, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, one of Trump's allies in Congress, said he spoke with Trump after the incident and that the businessman is "in good spirits" and is "one of the strongest people I have ever met."

In addition, the White House confirmed that President Joe Biden was informed of what happened and that he is "relieved" that Trump is okay.

The incident occurs about two months after the presidential candidate was shot in an assassination attempt at a campaign event in Pennsylvania.

Trump had returned to Florida this weekend after a tour of the western United States that included a rally in Las Vegas and a fundraising event in Utah.
