Despite this terrifying connection, fortunately, the consequences were very different. Despite the drama of the moment, the Carnival Cruise Line spokesperson assured that there were no significant damages to the ship. The incident occurred while the Carnival Spirit was sailing through the cold waters of the fjord, an area known for its stunning beauty and the presence of floating icebergs.

A cruise ship hits an iceberg, causing concern among the passengers
According to several passengers, at the moment of impact, comments evoking the sinking of the Titanic were heard. One passenger, Cassandra Goskie, shared a video on TikTok where someone can be heard saying, "If we die, it's worth it, it's a Titanic moment," just before the ship hit the iceberg.
After stopping for a few hours to assess the hull, it was determined that there was no damage, and the cruise continued on its planned route without further issues. The Carnival Spirit completed its seven-day journey without interruptions, docking in Seattle, Washington, as scheduled.
Social media played an important role in spreading the incident, with multiple videos and photos showing the moment of the crash and the passengers' reactions. Despite the initial shock, calm returned when it was confirmed that there was no danger. Many online users exaggerated the situation, while others chose to make jokes about the scare they experienced.
The "Titanic Moment" turned out not to be so dangerous.
These types of situations are not common, but they are also not unheard of in the waters of Alaska. In 2022, another cruise ship, the Norwegian Sun, also collided with an iceberg while sailing in the same region, sustaining minor damages. The waters of Alaska are notoriously difficult to navigate due to strong winds, currents, and floating ice blocks.
Despite the incident, cruise experts assure that modern ships are designed to withstand adverse conditions, including the icy waters of the Arctic. Therefore, although the moment may have been unsettling, there was no real risk of the Titanic story repeating itself in this case.
