The iconic structure of the Titanic collapsed at the bottom of the sea

The Titanic continues to be a subject of curiosity and even obsession for many scientists and enthusiasts, who have even managed to venture out to explore its remains.

Although more than a century has passed since the famous Titanic sank to the bottom of the Atlantic during its maiden voyage, leaving thousands dead, its legend continues to fascinate.

The Titanic continues to be a subject of curiosity and even obsession for many scientists and enthusiasts, who have even managed to venture into exploring its remains to confirm that the accident was real and to learn more about the ocean, which also holds millions of mysteries.

What was the iconic structure of the Titanic that ended up collapsing at the bottom of the sea?

The iconic image from James Cameron's movie inspired by the accident, where Jack and Rose stand on the imposing bow of the ship is, without a doubt, one of the most recognizable scenes in the history of cinema. But now, new and surprising photographs have revealed that this famous structure now lies collapsed and rusted in the depths of the ocean.

Recent images captured by robotic submarines show that 4.5 meters of the ship's bow have collapsed on the ocean floor.

The expedition team that made the discovery now warns that it is only a matter of time before the entire ship collapses completely.

“People ask all the time: ‘How long will the Titanic be there?’ We don't know, but we are watching it in real time,” said Tomasina Ray, Director of Collections at RMS Titanic Inc.

After the accident in 1912, the ship was lost in time and in the memory of most people until a team of explorers captured the first images of the wreckage in 1985.

These images, which Cameron used to immortalize the appearance of the Titanic in his 1998 film, revealed that the bow was still miraculously intact over 70 years after the accident, but during an expedition carried out between July and August of this year, two remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) launched by RMS Titanic Inc. discovered that a large section of the bow railing is missing.

“The bow of the Titanic is an icon. There are many moments of this story in pop culture. That’s what comes to mind when you think of the shipwreck. It doesn’t look like that anymore,” said Tomasina Ray, who led the expedition.
