Love is stronger: Simone Biles' husband left the NFL preseason and traveled to Paris 2024.

Jonathan Owens is one of the cornerbacks for the Chicago Bears and requested a special permission for one week.

The Chicago Bears are in the midst of one of the most important preseasons of this century, as they hope to end the trend of losses and disappointments in recent years after selecting quarterback Caleb Williams and receiver Rome Odunze in the first round of the Draft. But they are well aware of the significance of Simone Biles in the United States, which is why they had no problem authorizing her husband, safety Jonathan Owens, to travel to Paris for the Olympic Games.

Thanks to that, the player was able to be present this Tuesday at the Bercy Arena to witness how Biles led Team USA to win the gold medal in the artistic gymnastics team final.

How did Biles and Owens meet?

Despite the world fame of the gymnast, Owens didn't know who she was when they connected through a dating app in 2020. Biles is from Houston and at that time the defensive player was part of the Texans' roster, the city's NFL team.

They got engaged in 2022 and got married in the spring of last year.

And although both have a busy schedule due to their sports careers, they always make time to support each other. Owens has been seen at competitions such as the National Artistic Gymnastics Championship and the last qualifying event for the Olympic Games, and Biles tries to attend as many games as possible.

In fact, when Owens left the Packers and signed with the Bears in March of this year, the gymnast expressed her joy on social media, as Chicago is one of the main airport hubs in the United States, while it is not as easy to get to Green Bay, in northern Wisconsin, due to the connections.

Since Owens signed a two-season contract with the "Bears", the couple's plan is to settle down in Chicago.

The Bears' support for Biles and Owens

This Thursday, August 1st, the NFL preseason games begin and the first one will be between the Chicago Bears and the Houston Texans, but Owens will not play, as his permission to be in Paris is from July 29th to August 3rd, which would also allow him to be present to support his wife in the final of the women's all-around individual event this Thursday.

A few days ago, Bears coach Matt Eberflus explained the team’s decision: “It’s just because we respect the Olympics. That’s something very important. And he (Owens) is just supporting who he loves the most. And I think it’s great that he can do that. We support him and it will be amazing. Go USA!”

Furthermore, on their social media, the team wished Simone Biles good luck before her debut at the Olympic Games...thanks to the wind coming from Lake Michigan and their giant pizzas, it seems that love is stronger in Chicago.
