Maduro Could Extend His Term

If victorious, Nicolás Maduro could extend his term to 18 years, becoming the leader with the longest time in power in recent Venezuelan history. Despite the participation of ten candidates in total, the main contest is between Maduro and the candidate of the Democratic Unity Platform (PUD), Edmundo González Urrutia.

The electoral situation in Venezuela continues to be a topic of great interest and scrutiny both nationally and internationally, with multiple actors closely monitoring the progress and results of this key process for the country’s future.
