The President of the United States praised the efforts of the preliminary investigation and the effectiveness of the operation: "I commend the efforts of our security forces who carried out this arrest in their constant work of putting the leaders of the Sinaloa Cartel before the law."

Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada and Joaquín Guzmán López, son of "El Chapo," were detained at an airport in El Paso, Texas, on Thursday night. It is still unclear whether it was a surrender or capture.

United States at war with fentanyl

The American state has acknowledged on numerous occasions the fentanyl catastrophe that arises from the distribution of narcotics and the loss of thousands of American lives due to overdoses: "Too many of our citizens have lost their lives due to the scourge of fentanyl. Too many families have been shattered and are suffering because of this destructive drug."

Despite the current circumstances, Biden expressed that the battle against the illegal drug trade to curb the production of fentanyl continues: "My Administration will continue to make every effort necessary to hold deadly drug traffickers accountable and preserve the lives of Americans."
