The renowned actor George Clooney, who had been one of the most high-profile Democratic activists in his guild during this election campaign, announced on Tuesday his endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris as a candidate for the presidency in this election. Clooney had written an article urging Joe Biden to drop out of the race for re-election.

Clooney has been a significant fundraiser for Democratic Party candidates and was one of the main supporters of Biden, but a couple of weeks ago he surprised everyone by openly asking the 81-year-old president to step aside for a younger candidate so that the party would have a better chance of defeating Republican magnate Donald Trump on November 5th.

What did George Clooney say about Vice President Kamala Harris as a candidate for the 2024 elections?

President Biden has shown what true leadership is. He is saving democracy once again. We are very excited to do everything possible in support of Vice President Harris in her historic bid for the Presidency of the United States in the November elections,” Clooney stated in a declaration to CNN.

“I love Joe Biden. I consider him a friend and I believe in him... But the only battle he can’t win is the fight against time,” the actor and director had written for The New York Times, justifying his lawsuit. With Biden at the helm of the ticket, the Democrats “won’t win in November,” they will lose control of the Senate, and they won’t obtain the majority in the House of Representatives, explained the Oscar-winning actor.

After days of increasing pressure, President Joe Biden abruptly announced that he was dropping out of the race for reelection and, furthermore, offered his endorsement to Vice President Harris, who quickly garnered overwhelming support from party leaders and a huge amount of donations from voters.
