Let's remember that their last title was won in 2008, when they defeated the Los Angeles Lakers in the Finals with a score of 4-2.

Now, Boston has placed itself at the top of the NBA, being the most successful institution in history, a milestone that only the Lakers could achieve, who have 17 titles.

The era of Bill Russell

The first championships won by the Celtics were with Bill Russell in control, as they achieved a total of 11 titles in 1957, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1966, 1968, and 1969.

After the Russell era, the Celtics also added two more Larry O'Brien trophies to their collection, in the 1974 and 1976 seasons.

But years later, another magical player appeared, who propelled Boston's path, and that's Larry Bird.

The power forward won three championships, in the seasons 1981, 1984, and 1986. Additionally, he was named Finals MVP twice.

By 2008, the team returned to the top and solidified itself, winning the 17th trophy, with Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Glen Davies, and Kevin Garnett as the standout players.
