In the year 2000, when Diego Armando Maradona was in Cuba undergoing treatment for his well-known and painful addictions, in his native Argentina an emotional chorus was sung in his honor.

La Mano de Dios” is without a doubt a true Maradonian anthem that gained even more strength after the death on November 25, 2020, of the former world champion player in Mexico 86.

In the current Euro 2024, the streets of several German cities are echoing the legendary song originally performed by Argentine quartet singer Rodrigo Bueno, thanks to the new version made by Nick Morgan, a Scottish musician who changed the name of the Argentine star for historic footballers from his home country, such as John McGinn from Aston Villa, Andrew Robertson from Liverpool, and coach Steve Clark.

"No Scotland, no Party"

The Tartan Army, the fanbase of the Scotland national team, has been in charge of not stopping singing during the current Eurocup "No Scotland, Party", a situation that has led many fans of other teams to grow fond of the song due to its catchy rhythm.

So far, in approximately a month of being published on YouTube, the British version already has over half a million views, a milestone that can also be seen on social media platforms like TikTok, and on Morgan's personal Instagram account.

In addition to mentioning great idols of the Scotland national team, the lyrics also mention the unforgettable memory of the victory against Spain, achieved in the qualifying stage prior to the Eurocup.

And of course, using an Argentine song, by Maradona, is also a way for the Scots to annoy their great football rivals, England.

Scotland has consecutively missed the last six World Cups, so in this Eurocup there is hope for a resurrection of the national team. In their first match last Friday, June 14, they were defeated 5-1 by the host team, Germany, therefore, they are obligated to win this Wednesday against Switzerland to stay alive in the third round and face Hungary with hopes of advancing to the next stage.
