A day of relaxation turned into tragedy for an American tourist and his wife at a luxury resort in Puerto Peñasco, Sonora, Mexico, where he was electrocuted while getting into a hot tub and she was seriously injured.

On social media, a video is going viral showing people screaming in desperation around the small hot tub, as they cannot get in to save those inside because if they do, they would also be electrocuted.

The incident took place in the afternoon of Tuesday, June 11 at the Sonora Resort Hotel, as reported by Marca USA. It wasn't until this Wednesday that the recording of the man's death and his wife's suffering was shared on the Internet. The victims are not detailed, but rather how people were screaming in terror around the pool.
In addition to the deceased's wife, there are two other injured individuals who are relatives who tried to rescue them. In fact, in the video circulating on social media, you can see when a man jumps into the hot tub to save them, but he couldn't, and instantly, he was left floating.
The individuals present tried to revive the victims by performing CPR, but the American tourist, identified as Jorge G, 43 years old, from El Paso, Texas, was declared dead at the scene, as reported by UHM Plus. The report indicated that his wife Lizette Z was transported to a hospital in the United States, where she is in critical condition.
According to CBS4, the outlet People reported that the full name of the deceased victim is Jorge Guillén and his wife is Lizette Zambrano, 35 years old.
Nurse Sara Gaitán Pérez testified to the Arizona Daily Star that her husband and son were in the same hot tub an hour before the incident. She also mentioned that she performed CPR on the couple and that the woman eventually started breathing again.
Investigations into the death of the American tourist in Mexico
El Universal reported that the Attorney General's Office of the State of Sonora (FGJES) has already begun the investigation process to determine the causes of the incident, as well as the responsibilities and sanctions involved.
In a statement posted on Facebook, the Prosecutor's Office stated that the incident was due to a "possible electric shock when both were inside the hot tub" and assured that "in the next few hours" they will "make public the details that should be known to the population, in compliance with the right of access to information."
At the moment, it is unknown what the condition of the deceased's wife is.
